THE MOTELS / MARTHA DAVIS - MAPLE LEAF GARDENS - TORONTO, CANADA - 10-24-85 (UPGRADE)
Просмотров 302Месяц назад
1st Gen audience recording of The Motels at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto Canada October 24th 1985. The band were opening for Supertramp(Or what was left of Supertramp at the time). Odd pairing anyway.... A previously posted recording of this show is on youtube but it was thin sounding and the intro song was inaudible. I eq'd the concert to sound like you're there (Listen with headphones!) and ...
MARTHA DAVIS / THE MOTELS - CRAZY (PATSY CLINE COVER) REMIX
Просмотров 461Месяц назад
Martha Davis of The Motels singing "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. Remixed by me using Moises to break the stereo recording into multi tracks. The recording used on The Motels "Anthologyland" CD had a heavy use of what sounds like noise reduction(Perhaps there was a lot of tape hiss on the original recording) and it made some of the recording sound washed out. I added a rim shot to the song(I think it ...
TODD RUNDGREN / UTOPIA - MY ANGEL INSTRUMENTAL

Here's another neat instrumental track. This song has great chord changes so it's really interesting to hear the things you can't hear when the vocals are present. There's some artifacts from the program breaking the song down but it's not too distracting.
TODD RUNDGREN / UTOPIA - LOVE IN ACTION INSTRUMENTAL
Просмотров 256Месяц назад
This is a cool instrumental bed for the song Love In Action from Utopia's 1977 album "Oops! Wrong Planet" You can hear all the detail of each instrument and keyboard solo. The song seems to chug along even more without the vocals. It's one of my favorite Utopia songs to play on guitar

From a Westwood One radio broadcast LP. As far as I know this is the only professionally recorded broadcast of The Motels during their peak in the 80's. This was a two fer show with Santana on the first half of the broadcast and The Motels on the second half(Two different venues, they did not tour together). I edited out the commercials and announcer and also did some Equalization as Westwood o...

The Motels / Martha Davis - Long Day. From the 1984 Soundtrack to the movie "Moscow on the Hudson". This is probably the best quality you're going to get for this song having never been released on CD( Besides a bootleg sourced from a cleaned up vinyl source) and has never appeared anywhere else. This was transferred from a sealed LP on the very first play using a Shibata line contact stylus fo...

A dynamite song in every way, pure BOSTON. Absolutely love the production, Fran Cosmo’s dynamic soaring spot on vocals are incredible and well suited, Rockman guitars by Scholz & Pihl are out of this world yet fill the song’s spectrum with their subtitles and intensities in a harmonious and balanced way, that is, being exactly where and how they need to be as is with the huge drums. Definitely one of my favourite depending on my mood, and truly worthy of being on a greatest hits compilation.

The Agora was owned by certain underworld figures so to speak. Most lived in the suburbs of Cleveland, or other suburban areas of other nearby cities. Many were part owners of other nightclubs as well as dive bars, and also were the local "bookie" for sports betting (which at that time was illegal in the area).

Uh oh this old mind can’t remember anymore. Maybe one time they backed up Jethro Tull I can’t remember.

Great Foghat live segment. Couple of fascinating facts: Grossman took out a life insurance policy on Janice Joplin for $200,000. Insurance company rejected the claim, Grossman sued and won $124,000 three years later. Grossman had an economics degree and was a very astute, shrewd businessman. He took 50% of Bob Dylan's profits with publish rights, subsequently, Dylan fired him. Albert Grossman was a fascinating figure in the music industry who and blazed trails. He's the one responsible for ensuring his artists had all the time they needed in the studio without schedules to the chagrin of the Record labels. Additionally, Grossman ensured that the artists could design and bring in their own artwork for album covers; something in years past that record labels never allowed. He took 25% of his artists profits which exceeded the 15% minimum in those days and was also accused of ripping off his artists. He had detractors and supporters. Truly an industry pioneer!

The mark of a musician who truly understands the soul of the organ is one who understands how to work with the resonance of his space... too many organists continue to play at a rhythm without respect for the resonance of a room. The following echo and silence are part of the performance as a brilliant fanfare. Without silence, the fanfare just becomes noise¯\_(ツ)_/¯
